General Store Features

Display Settings
  • Highly customizable storefront design. Every aspect of the user interface can be easily changed to suit your needs. This includes, but is not limited to, fonts, images, backgrounds, and buttons. Create a new professional looking e-commerce website or merge your existing site into the FIT e-Commerce system.
  • Cascading Style Sheets enable centralized control over many design aspects of the storefront user interface. The storefront is entirely CSS-driven (no embedded font-tags, etc.) so advanced users can quickly make changes that affect the entire storefront.
  • Products can be displayed 4 to a row with 150x150 images, or 2 to a row with larger 250x250 images on the subcategory pages.
  • Set the exact order in which categories should be displayed in the dynamic menu bar.
  • Set the exact order in which subcategories should be displayed under each category.

Product Catalog Features

  • Add category and subcategory descriptions. Enhance these descriptions with HTML tags.
  • Control the order in which categories and subcategories are displayed in the menu.
    • Add product options (e.g. size, color, etc.).
    • Choose product option format: drop-down list, radio buttons, checkbox, textbox, or text area. The textbox and text area input fields allow customers to enter custom information such as initials to be engraved on an item, or a message for a gift card.
    • Add product option descriptions. Enhance these descriptions with HTML tags.
    • Add product option images.
    • Make product options required (e.g. customer must choose a "color").
    • Control the order in which product options are displayed
    • Add unlimited option choices to each product option.
    • Assign positive or negative pricing for each option choice (e.g. add $15 or subtract $5).
    • Control the order in which option choices are displayed (e.g. small before medium, etc.)
  • Create additional sales by displaying similar or related products with the "You May Also Like" feature. Each product can have up to 3 related products.

Content Management System
  • Instantly create new web pages with the click of a button in the Content Manager.
  • All content management functions are performed through a simple form based interface. No HTML programming needed.
  • Managed web pages use the same integrated design, layout, and style sheets found throughout the entire system. This means they change along with the rest of the storefront when changes are made to the style sheets or images used in design/layout.
  • Add or remove links to the managed web pages on the footer of every page.
  • Add or remove links to the managed web pages on the the site map page.
  • Configure META tags used by search engines to index your site. Tags included are the title, keyword, and description META tags.
  • Specify page title (HTML tag enabled).
  • Create and modify page content (HTML tag enabled). The Content Manager enables site administrators to enter a wide variety of page content from simple text to complicated HTML table structures with images.

Search Engine Optimization
  • Content is king when it comes to optimizing a site for the search engines. FIT e-Commerce was developed with search engine optimization (SEO) in mind.
  • Using the Content Manager store administrators can create and maintain content rich "landing pages" specifically targeting desirable keyword phrases.
  • Add additional keyword rich content to the home page of the storefront without compromising the design using a special "SEO Content" area (HTML tag enabled).
  • Configure META tags used by search engines to index your site. Tags included are the title, keyword, and description META tags.
  • On category, subcategory, and product pages, FIT e-Commerce dynamically creates META tags for you when none are specified. For instance on the product page, the title tag is a combination of the store name and the product name. If no META description tag is supplied then the first 300 characters of the product description is used.
  • Pages that are not category, subcategory, or product specific, the META tags used are created and maintained in the Content Manager.
  • FIT e-Commerce includes a site map that is dynamically generated based on pages in the site. Search engines use site maps to help find all the pages on a website.
  • Quickly integrate existing pages into a FIT e-Commerce storefront. This allows you to keep pages that have already been indexed and may have good rankings.

Order Processing
  • Easily search for orders by number, customer, date, amount, order status, etc.
  • FIT e-Commerce supports the creation of partial shipments for each order (or ship-to-address).
  • Order status is automatically updated based on the actions taken. For example, when you ship the last item in an order the order status is automatically converted to "Complete".
  • Smart logic reduces mistakes by preventing common errors. For example, shipments cannot be created until payment has been processed.
  • Incomplete orders are prominently listed along with new orders so they get the attention they need.
  • Customers can view the status of their orders in the customer account area of the store front. If shipment tracking numbers are entered, the customer can track their shipments with various carriers that offer tracking by clicking a link next to the order (or shipment) in question.
  • Returned and cancelled items are automatically accounted for in reporting and inventory tracking.
  • When items are returned or cancelled the entire order is recalculated to determine appropriate new totals. For example if a customer uses a promo code requiring a $100 minimum order amount, and then returns an item which causes the total amount to fall below the specified threshold, the discount from the promo code will no longer be applied to the order, and the refund amount will be adjusted accordingly.
  • When using an integrated payment processor, refunds for cancellations and returns are automatically processed.
  • All order payments/credits are recorded for later use.
  • Unlimited order notes can be entered to track a variety of information about each order.
  • Easily print packing slips to be included with each shipment. Packing slips are branded with you logo and contact information.
  • Printer friendly order details (receipts) can be printed at any time from the order processing pages.

Payment Processing Options
  • FIT e-Commerce integrates with PayPal Website Payments Pro to offer an affordable all-in-one alternative to more complicated, more expensive payment methods.
    • Website Payments Pro enables direct, real-time credit card processing from your website. Customers do not need to have a PayPal account to make purchases.
    • PayPal Website Payments Pro offers the features of an internet merchant account and payment gateway , plus much more - at a lower cost.
    • Credit and debit cards are accepted including: Visa, Master Card, American Express, and Discover.
    • For those customers who prefer to keep their financial information confidential, Website Payments Pro enables secure payments from a customer's PayPal account.
    • Take credit card payments by phone, fax, or mail. Website Payments Pro includes Virtual Terminal, which allows your customers the flexibility to pay you with a credit card offline, with no PayPal account required.
    • Get industry-leading security. PayPal has industry-leading fraud-prevention systems in place - and PayPal helps fight chargebacks for you. Plus, you can control your level of risk - to allow only the types of transactions you prefer.
    • Support for PayPal's new Instant Order Notification (IPN) feature. For example, if a chargeback is filed against you, PayPal notifies your installation of FIT e-Commerce. The software immediately notifies you by email of the situation and updates the order in the database to reflect the new status.
    • PayPal Merchant Account is required. Obtaining a merchant account from PayPal is free. A PayPal merchant account is a great asset because it can also be used to facilitate all sorts of business transactions beyond the scope of the FIT e-Commerce software.

  • Securely process credit card transaction using an encrypted Secure Socket Layer (SSL) connection. Client must obtain SSL certificate separately from a third-party Certificate Authority (CA). 
  • FIT e-Commerce calculates taxes using the shipping address based on tax rate data stored in the database. Tax rate information must be entered by storefront administrators and will vary due to the various tax law implications that may apply. For more information consult an accountant or tax attorney.
  • If you prefer to process credit card payments offline using an existing POS system, then no payment processing integration is necessary. Just select the "Manual" payment processing option.

Reporting Features

Shipping Options
  • FIT e-Commerce allows customers to ship to multiple addresses in one single order. This saves the customer time and effort while encouraging gift giving.
  • FIT e-Commerce automatically saves all shipping addresses entered by customers. Repeat customers can easily reuse the saved shipping addresses and don't have to enter the same information over and over.
  • Calculate shipping/handling costs based on order amount (e.g. $50 or less = $5.99, $50-$100 = $6.99, greater than $100 = 8.99).
  • Calculate shipping/handling costs based on ship-to-address amount. Remember each order can have multiple ship-to-addresses.
  • Set a fixed cost for shipping handling to apply to each order (or each ship to address).
  • Make shipping free on orders (or ship-to-address totals) above a certain amount.
  • Easily print packing slips to be included with each shipment. Packing slips are branded with you logo and contact information.
