A Case Study... |
Custom Application for the Commercial Real Estate IndustryRFPForms.com We created an online Request For Proposal system for the commercial real estate industry. The system brings property managers and vendors together like never before with Request For Proposal forms in over 40 service categories from landscaping to security services. Property representatives and vendors create multi-user accounts with role based permissions and password protection. RFPForms.com has thousands of users to date. The RFPForms.com project was a major undertaking over a year in planning and development. The current version (2.0) contains over 250 pages, 109 database tables, and 398 stored procedures. Programming languages/technologies used include ASP (vbscript), ASP.NET (VB.NET), SQL Server 2000, stored procedures, JavaScript, HTML, DHTML, Flash, and Secure Socket Layer Encryption (SSL). Our client wanted to create a dot com for the commercial real estate industry. The application had to combine simplicity and ease of use with complex business requirements to produce a quality result that added value for all its users. Simplify property management tasks while providing a new source of leads for commercial real estate vendors. Several former property managers were brought in as consultants to help refine the business requirements as the project progressed. The application is
comprised of four distinct sections: the public section; the property
representative section; the vendor section; and the
site administration section. The public section is designed to give
potential users a look at how RFPForms.com can increase productivity and
increase revenue. It also provides the means to sign up for property
representative and vendor accounts. The other three sections perform
the business functions of the application.
Property representative accounts can have an unlimited number of properties and users in up to 389 metro areas. Each account receives multi-user capability, role-based permissions, and password protection. Property representative users can request proposals from vendors in over 40 service categories the application or enter their own vendors into the system. The application is free to property representatives. Revenue comes from the vendors who pay for annual listings on the site. Each account receives multi-user capability, role-based permissions, and password protection. Vendor accounts can have unlimited number of locations and users in up to 389 metro areas in North America (USA and Canada). Vendors can maintain their listings and respond to RFPs. ![]() Site Administrators handle customer support issues, account activation, payment processing, and monitor site usage from the administrative section of the application. Valuable marketing information such as site usage data is available at the click of the mouse. The admin section has multi-user capability, role-based permissions, and password protection. |
